Ansley Park is one of the many vibrant communities within metropolitan Atlanta. Developed in 1904 by Edwin Ansley, this area was designed as a modern oasis from the hustle and bustle of daily city life in Atlanta. The streets were made wide and the homes large and spacious - Ansley believed the neighborhood should be focused on the advent of the motor car and not on narrow muddy carriage streets like in the rest of the city. He wanted to create a community where the more prosperous of Atlanta’s residents could come and enjoy his makeshift seclusion and modern lifestyle – an initiative that has been preserved to date. The community has recently celebrated 100 years of “gracious living”.
True to the vision of Edwin Ansley, Ansley Park is still a very prestigious neighborhood and unless you are a citizen in good standing, you will not be allowed to stay in the community as stated by the Civil Society. Regardless of this anxious attitude towards outsiders, the community does provide for itself in the form of natural beauty, a clean and lovely view, and entertainment. This summer the Midtown Technology Square is playing host to Free Flicks on Fifth, a free movie night where residents can gather to watch a movie on an outdoor big screen.
There are many great restaurants in the neighbourhood, so, if you are feeling peckish during your time in Ansley Park, you should take the time to stop at one of them and tickle your taste buds. Rays New York Pizza/Cedar’s Mediterranean can offer you excellent New York-style pizza if you’re in the mood for a good snack or if you have the family with you, or if you are feeling for adventurous you can sit down to an invigorating meal of Mediterranean food. The Tin Drum Asia Café can also give you a feel for the exotic while filling up your belly. The Fifth Street Ribs ‘n Blues will get you both of what it advertises in the title, and if you are in the mood for gourmet chocolate you won’t want to miss the Lexington Chocolatier. For other cravings try Moe’s Southwest Grill, the Georgia Tech Hotel and, of course, there is always Starbucks for a quick jolt of caffeine.
Given the illustrious nature of the Park, it might be surprising to learn that rental accommodation can be found at an affordable price. There are some absolutely beautiful apartment buildings with stunning views that anyone would love to call home, and one could be yours for anything from $700 to $2,000 per month. If you want to live a life of luxury (or at least seeming luxury) then Ansley Park is certainly the place to do it. With gourmet food at your demand, a strict neighborhood watch that keeps the crime rate very low and the spacious, picturesque dwellings who wouldn’t want to relocate here?
