Atlanta's Neighborhoods

Atlanta has a diverse collection of neighborhoods scatter throughout the metroplex. Each of these neighborhoods has it's own unique ambience. Many of these neighborhoods have been designated with historic status. The make up of these neighborhoods range from the eclectric to Jewish from African American to the luxurious.

Adams Park is one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods. Adams Park neighborhood is well maintained, safe and family-oriented. The schools are excellent in the area and the economy is very stable.

Ansley Park is best know for its architectural styles. The homes in this area are highly sought after and command a high real estate value. Walking tours of this area are available through the Atlanta Preservation Center.

Cabbagetown is undergoing rapid growth. If you want a house to fix up then you can find one here. Many trendy mill houses are opening up bringing an influx of people to this area.

Candler Park is home to many historic sites including many of the businesses. Candler Park has a varied mixed of art galleries promoting the local resident's work, specialty shops and restaurants.

Castleberry Hill is a beautiful neighborhood with a small town feel. The trees and lawns are very well kept. Several movies has used this town as a backdrop: Driving Miss Daisy, Sweet Home Alabama and Beauty Shop.

Central Neighborhoods of Atlanta include the following areas: Five Points, Fairlie-Poplar, SoNo, Castleberry Hill, Railroad District and Centennial Hills. Most of these area have a significant historial background. Five Points is famous for it's role in Margaret Michell's novel, Gone With the Wind.

Druid Hills is a master-planned neighborhood. It is designed to represent the perfect suburban community. Druid Hills is well-known for its beautiful neighborhoods. The Emory University is located here.

East Atlanta has undergone a dramatic renovation over the last couple of years. Spear-headed by its residents, East Atlanta has developed in a popular spot for businesses, restaurants and nightclubs.

East Lake has become a popular place to live because of it's easy access to Atlanta's business and entertainment centers. The real estate market is still very reaonable.

Grant Park is a nationally recognized historical district such attractions as the burial place of Margaret Mitchell. Grant Park is Atlanta's largest Historic District.

Inman Park as the distinction of being Atlanta's first planned community. After many years of neglect the residents of this area have helped revitalize it to the point that some of the most beautiful homes of Atlanta are located here.

Kirkwood consists of a diverse population and is only 5 minutes from downtown. Many young people have moved into this area having found inexpensive housing.

Sweet Auburn is a historical African American community and has become the center of the African American culture in Atlanta.

Virginia Highland was originally created to be a trolley community, giving resident easy access to the commercial venues of Atlanta. People from all over Atlanta come to this area to experience some of the best dining and enterainment in all of Atlanta.

West End has been disignated a national historic district. This neighborhood is steeped in historical traditions but recently has been undergoing a commercial and residential revitalization.
