Downtown Atlanta

Downtown Atlanta is many things. It's the center of the city, the bustling business hub of Atlanta. It's also the seat of the state government, the center of Atlanta's art scene and home to its many museums, hotels and many of their fine dining establishments. There is the historical area, incorporating buildings like the Flatiron Building and Candler Building is an ode to the past, echoing the simpler, easier days gone by. You'll find museums tucked away behind impressive hotels and MARTA lines running between educational institutions and historical theaters.

Downtown Atlanta is bounded on the north by North Avenue, on the west by Northside Drive, on the east by Boulevard and on the south by Georgia Avenue. It's comprised of several different neighborhoods, or areas. Namely, these are Summer Hill, Grant Park, Castleberry Hill, Five Points, Sweet Auburn, Fairlie Poplar, Centennial Hill, SoNo, Bedford Pines and Centennial Place. Some of these are actually industrial or business areas, rather than residential, but the names are still used as landmarks for the residents of downtown Atlanta. These areas are serviced by central MARTA lines, running north to south and east to west, with many stops in between that offer riders easy access to everything Atlanta has to offer.

The fastest growing segment of downtown is in young professionals. These professionals are from all walks of life and are employed in many different areas. Finding it easy to commute to work, affordable housing and low cost of living, these young people are flocking to downtown Atlanta to make their homes and livings in the 'new south'.
