When I first moved into Alta West, the lofts were so beautiful that I didn't care how much it cost [big mistake!]. I got a great deal on my lease, but once my lease is up it will go up $300 a month to market value. There are no bugs here, which is a HUGE plus, and the grounds are generally beautiful. However, onto the not so good.... Since Alta West has been open [and I have lived there since then], over 32 cars have been broken into to date. This is INSIDE of the gated parking deck. The gates often don't work, and it is *very* easy to follow someone in the gates because they are so slow to close. 2 people have been robbed at GUNPOINT in the parking deck outside of the gated area. And the worst of all, a woman was coming to visit her boyfriend, and before she could be buzzed in the pedestrian gate, someone grabbed her, dragged her off and beat her. It took this event for the leasing office to FINALLY hire a security guard at night, but the car break ins still happen. I'm a single woman, so these things scare the living hell out of me. I've been woken up by screaming in the middle of the night multiple times. The leasing staff is great, and things get fixed promptly. Unfortunately there is nothing that the leasing staff can do about the complex being in a bad area. You end up paying far too much to be scared.
