Apartment Review
Terrible place - staff of thieves and liars
Review Date: 8/8/2010
Reviewer: Anonymous

I lived at P'tree Park from 2008 - 2010. The good: *Maintenance repairs handled promptly *Location The bad: *OLD LEAD PAINT used in most of the units *ROACH INFESTED -- The apartment was infested with disgusting roaches. We had the apartment treated almost every month and they persisted until my roommate and I left PP Apts. We were both in school at the time so there was never really any food around to attract these pests *FRAUDULENT UTILITIES -- Our water bill steadily climbed every month. This didn't raise catch our attention until I was out of town for close to a month and a half and my roommate was in the apartment alone. Interestingly the water bill for the month that I was absent was greater than the bill for the previous month (when I was there). One would think that with one less person taking showers, flushing toilets, doing laundry, cooking, etc. that the water bill would be slightly lower.... *TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT -- There was a change in management sometime after we first started renting. YOLANDA, the current manager is a heartless, lying, thief. She looked me directly in my eyes and lied to me to my face. 1st incident: During the old management, our rent was lost and the staff were honest enough to admit that they lost our checks. They simply requested that we cancelled the lost checks and re-write them new checks less the cancellation fee. 2nd incident: A few months after we renewed our lease in February of 2009 AIMCO decided that they would implement a mandatory "valet trash" service. They also decided that it would be a mandatory service that would add an extra $25 a month onto our bill. My roommate and myself (two grown men) decided that we could take our own trash to the dumpster and that we did not want this service. When we articulated this to the management we were told that it was mandatory. We complained and called AIMCO. They gave us the run-around and told us that we could return the special "valet trash cans" to the office and the service would stop. We tried to return the can but the office said they could not accept it and that we needed to call the trash service. Long story short, they gave us the run-around for a while, then they finally took our special "valet trash can" back and said that they would stop the service for our unit. Well, they lied to us. They took the can back, but they continued to charge us the extra $25/month for a "mandatory" service that was not in our lease agreement and that we did not even use. 3rd incident: The flood. Peachtree creek flooded in 2009. Our apartment was not damaged, but many others were. They were completely unprofessional in their handling of the situation. But hey, maybe it was a little karma. 4th incident: The last month of our lease they conveniently lost our rent checks again. This time they tried to say that we never submitted the checks (we used to submit the checks to the front desk attendant personally until she went off on us -- their customers -- about using the drop box after they lost our checks the first time) when we had put them in the drop box several days before rent was due. We called AIMCO, we brought our check carbon copies, but in the end YOLONDA (who probably lost our checks) looked me in my eyes and lied that she didn't therefore we were forced to pay the rent plus the $175 late fee or face eviction. When we asked for a receipt this time around all we could get was a shoddy receipt on the back of an old envelope that she signed. She wouldn't even write "paid in full" on the envelope/receipt. Needless to say, they kept our deposit when we left. We kind of expected that no amount of cleaning that we could do would stop them from keeping (stealing) our deposit. This place was a nightmare. The new management (YOLONDA) treated us like we were the enemy. This despite the fact that for two years we never were late on our rent, nor were we involved in any type of complaint or infraction at this place. Stay away!
